The State Medical Faculty of West Bengal Entrance Examination (SMFWBEE) is a state-level entrance test conducted for admission to various paramedical diploma courses across West Bengal. The State Medical Faculty of West Bengal, an autonomous body established by the Government of West Bengal, organises this examination annually to select eligible candidates for admission to diploma programmes in government medical colleges, government institutions, and affiliated private institutions throughout the state. SMFWBEE serves as the gateway for students aspiring to pursue careers in paramedical fields such as Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Optometry, and other allied health sciences. The examination assesses candidates' knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the Higher Secondary level. Top participating institutes include prestigious government medical colleges like Medical College Kolkata, IPGME&R Kolkata, NRS Medical College, RG Kar Medical College, and North Bengal Medical College, along with over 120 affiliated institutions across West Bengal. The Faculty offers 13 different diploma courses, each with a duration of two years plus six months of compulsory post-examination practical training. Upon successful completion, candidates receive diplomas recognised by various state and central authorities for employment purposes, making SMFWBEE a crucial stepping stone for students seeking to build careers in the healthcare sector.
