PTET

The Pre-Teacher Education Test (Rajasthan), commonly known as PTET, is a state-level entrance examination conducted annually by the Government of Rajasthan. This entrance test is specifically designed for candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) courses in various government and private colleges across Rajasthan. The exam is organised by Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, or Dungar College, Bikaner, on behalf of the Rajasthan government. PTET serves as a gateway for aspiring teachers who wish to pursue professional teaching qualifications in the state. The Pre-Teacher Education Test (Rajasthan) evaluates candidates on multiple dimensions including mental ability, teaching aptitude, general awareness, and subject knowledge. The examination comprises 200 marks and tests candidates' readiness for teacher training programmes. Top participating institutes include Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer; University of Rajasthan, Jaipur; Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur; Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner; and numerous affiliated colleges across the state. The primary courses offered through PTET are the two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme and the four-year integrated Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) programme. These courses prepare candidates for teaching positions in schools and educational institutions. The examination is conducted in offline mode (pen-and-paper based) at various centres across Rajasthan, making it accessible to candidates from all districts of the state.
