MTET

The Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) is a state-level teacher eligibility examination conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on behalf of the Government of Meghalaya. This examination is conducted in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and is mandatory for candidates aspiring to become teachers in government or government-aided schools in Meghalaya for classes I to VIII. The Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted in two papers: Paper I for candidates intending to teach classes I to V (Primary Stage) and Paper II for those aspiring to teach classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Stage). Candidates who wish to become teachers for both levels must appear in both papers. The examination assesses the candidate's knowledge in subjects such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Science, and Social Studies, depending on the paper. The test follows an objective-type format with multiple-choice questions, and the total marks for each paper is 150. The MTET certificate is valid for a lifetime and is recognised across Meghalaya for teacher recruitment in schools under the state government. The examination provides opportunities for graduates and post-graduates with teaching qualifications to secure positions as Primary Teachers (PT) and Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) in various schools. The MBoSE ensures transparent conduct of the examination, with strict adherence to exam protocols, and provides equal opportunities to candidates from all backgrounds, including reserved categories as per state government norms.
