KVPY

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) was a prestigious national-level scholarship programme initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The programme was administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, with the primary objective of identifying and nurturing exceptionally talented students in basic sciences. KVPY aimed to encourage students to pursue research careers in science by providing them with financial assistance and an opportunity to realise their potential. The examination tested students' aptitude in science subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, along with critical thinking and analytical skills. The programme offered fellowships to students from Class 11 to the first year of any undergraduate programme in Basic Sciences such as B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math., or Integrated M.Sc./M.S. in Science. The total marks for the KVPY examination varied by stream, typically comprising a written aptitude test and an interview for shortlisted candidates. Note: As of 2022, the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has discontinued the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana programme. The KVPY examination is no longer conducted.
