JIPMER MBBS

The JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination, formerly known as the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research MBBS entrance test, was a national-level undergraduate medical entrance examination conducted by JIPMER, Puducherry. This examination served as the gateway for admission to the prestigious MBBS programme at JIPMER campuses in Puducherry and Karaikal. The exam was recognised as one of the most competitive medical entrance tests in India, attracting thousands of aspiring medical students annually who sought admission to these premier medical institutes. **Important Update:** From 2020 onwards, the JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination has been merged with NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate). Admissions to JIPMER MBBS programmes are now conducted through NEET-UG scores, following a directive from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This merger was implemented to create a single, uniform entrance examination for all undergraduate medical admissions across India, including AIIMS and JIPMER institutions. Prior to the merger, the JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination was conducted in online computer-based mode and tested candidates on Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology), English Comprehension, and Logical and Quantitative Reasoning. The examination offered approximately 200 MBBS seats across both JIPMER campuses, making it highly selective.
