The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a series of examinations for recruitment to various posts in public sector banks and financial institutions across India. Established in 1975, IBPS is an autonomous agency that provides recruitment services to participating banks through a standardised examination process. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Examinations are recognised as central government-level examinations that attract millions of aspirants annually due to the prestigious nature of banking careers and excellent job security. IBPS conducts multiple examinations throughout the year, including IBPS PO (Probationary Officer/Management Trainee), IBPS Clerk, IBPS SO (Specialist Officer), IBPS RRB (Regional Rural Banks), and IBPS AFO (Agriculture Field Officer). These examinations serve as a gateway to Group A and Group B posts in public sector banks. The examinations follow a multi-tiered structure comprising Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview (for officer-level posts), ensuring comprehensive assessment of candidates' aptitude, reasoning ability, general awareness, and professional knowledge. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Examinations facilitate recruitment for 12 public sector banks and numerous Regional Rural Banks across India. The examinations are conducted online across hundreds of centres throughout India, with question papers available in both English and Hindi (except for English language sections).
