GSET

The Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Gujarat University on behalf of the Government of Gujarat to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and for awarding Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in universities and colleges across Gujarat. GSET is equivalent to the UGC-NET (National Eligibility Test) but specifically caters to candidates seeking teaching positions in higher educational institutions within the state of Gujarat. GSET is recognised as a mandatory qualification for those aspiring to pursue an academic career in Gujarat's state universities, government colleges, and affiliated institutions. The examination is conducted annually and assesses candidates' knowledge in their chosen subject along with their teaching and research aptitude. The exam consists of two papers covering teaching aptitude, research methodology, and subject-specific content. Successful candidates who qualify GSET become eligible for appointment as Assistant Professors in colleges and universities, whilst top performers may also be awarded Junior Research Fellowships. The examination serves as a gateway to academic positions across various disciplines including humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, and other subjects.
