DCET Karnataka

The Diploma Common Entrance Test (Karnataka), commonly referred to as DCET Karnataka or Karnataka DCET, is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). This examination serves as the gateway for diploma holders seeking lateral entry admission into the second year of undergraduate engineering programmes (B.E./B.Tech.) across various colleges and universities in Karnataka. The exam is designed to assess candidates' understanding of fundamental engineering subjects they studied during their diploma courses. DCET Karnataka is conducted annually, providing an excellent opportunity for diploma graduates to pursue higher education without completing the entire four-year degree programme from the beginning. The examination is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based) and tests candidates on subjects relevant to their diploma stream. The exam carries a total of 180 marks and is considered one of the most important examinations for diploma holders in Karnataka seeking admission to premier engineering institutions. Top participating institutes include BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore; RV College of Engineering, Bangalore; PES University, Bangalore; Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore; MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences; JSS Science and Technology University, Mysore; and numerous government engineering colleges across Karnataka. The examination provides access to various engineering disciplines including Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Science Engineering, and several other specialised branches.
