The AIIMS Postgraduate Entrance Examination, commonly known as AIIMS PG, was historically one of India's most prestigious medical postgraduate entrance examinations. Conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, this national-level examination served as the gateway for admission to various postgraduate medical courses including MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), DM (Doctorate of Medicine), MCh (Master of Chirurgiae), and MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) programmes across multiple AIIMS institutions throughout India. The AIIMS Postgraduate Entrance Examination was a computer-based test that assessed candidates' knowledge across pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects studied during the MBBS curriculum. The examination was known for its rigorous standards and competitive nature, attracting thousands of MBBS graduates from across the country. Top AIIMS institutions including AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and AIIMS Raipur participated in this examination for admissions to their respective MD/MS and super-speciality programmes. Important Update: From 2024 onwards, admissions to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at all AIIMS institutions are conducted through NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate), as per the directive of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. However, super-speciality courses (DM/MCh) at AIIMS institutions may still conduct institute-specific entrance examinations.
