AFCAT

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) twice a year to recruit officers in the Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches. Administered by the Air Force Central Admission Cell, AFCAT is one of the most prestigious defence recruitment examinations in India, offering young aspirants an opportunity to serve the nation by joining the Indian Air Force as commissioned officers.

AFCAT is conducted at the all-India level and serves as the gateway for both men and women candidates who aspire to wear the blue uniform. The examination assesses candidates on various parameters, including general awareness, verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, and military aptitude. The exam is designed to evaluate not only academic knowledge but also the mental alertness, leadership qualities, and officer-like qualities required for service in the Indian Air Force. The total marks for the AFCAT written examination are 300, with 100 questions to be answered in 120 minutes.

Candidates who successfully clear the AFCAT written examination are called for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing, which includes psychological tests, group tasks, and interviews. The AFCAT examination provides entry to various branches and specialisations within the Indian Air Force, including Aeronautical Engineering, Meteorology, Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education, and other technical and non-technical roles. The examination is highly competitive, attracting lakhs of candidates annually who dream of serving in one of the world's most respected air forces.
