Rani Rashmoni Green University

Rani Rashmoni Green University is a State university established in 2022, located in Tarakeswar, Hooghly district, West Bengal, India. The university was established under the Rani Rashmoni Green University Act, 2022 by the Government of West Bengal with a unique mandate to focus on environmental sciences, sustainable development, and green technologies. As West Bengal's first green university, it operates as a Public institution affiliated to no other body, functioning as an autonomous State university. The university has received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, enabling it to award degrees as specified by the UGC. Rani Rashmoni Green University offers a diverse range of academic programmes across Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD levels, with a special emphasis on environmental studies, sustainability science, climate change studies, renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, and related interdisciplinary fields. The university is designed to be a centre of excellence for green education and sustainable development research in Eastern India. The primary courses offered include B.Sc. in Environmental Science, M.Sc. in Climate Change and Sustainability, M.Sc. in Renewable Energy, and various research programmes focusing on environmental conservation and sustainable technologies. Admission to Rani Rashmoni Green University is conducted through entrance examinations and merit-based selection processes. For undergraduate programmes, admissions are primarily based on higher secondary examination marks, whilst postgraduate admissions consider undergraduate performance along with entrance test scores where applicable. The university follows the admission calendar prescribed by the West Bengal government and maintains transparency in its selection procedures.
