Puducherry Technological University (PTU) was established in 2008 as a unitary, state government university under the Puducherry Technological University Act, 2008. The university was created by converting Pondicherry Engineering College (established in 1984) into a unitary university, thereby inheriting over three decades of academic excellence and tradition.
