About National Institute of Design, Assam
National Institute of Design, Assam (NID Assam) was established in 2014 as an autonomous design institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Located in Jorhat, Assam, NID Assam is one of the four new NIDs set up to expand design education across India, following the legacy of the premier National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The institute operates as a Public, Autonomous institution and is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). NID Assam has been steadily building its reputation as a centre of excellence in design education in the northeastern region of India.
The institute offers a comprehensive range of design programmes, including Undergraduate courses across multiple design disciplines such as Textile & Apparel Design, Communication Design, and Industrial Design. Admission to NID Assam is highly competitive and conducted through the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), followed by a Studio Test for shortlisted candidates.
