Central Agricultural University

Central Agricultural University (CAU) was established in 1993 under an Act of Parliament as a Central University to cater to the agricultural education needs of the North-Eastern Region of India. The university is headquartered in Imphal, Manipur, and has extended its academic footprint across six states of the region with multiple campuses. As a Public, Central university, CAU has emerged as a premier institution dedicated to agricultural sciences, veterinary sciences, home science, fisheries, and allied disciplines. The university has earned recognition from UGC, ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), and holds accreditation from NAAC with an 'A' grade. Central Agricultural University offers comprehensive educational programmes across all levels including Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD programmes in various disciplines related to agriculture and allied sciences. The university operates through multiple colleges including College of Agriculture at Imphal, Kyrdemkulai, Pasighat, and Tura; College of Post Graduate Studies at Umiam and Barapani; College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry at Selesih; College of Fisheries at Lembucherra; College of Horticulture & Forestry at Pasighat; and College of Home Science at Tura. Admission to various programmes is conducted through ICAR AIEEA (All India Entrance Examination for Admission) for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, whilst PhD admissions are based on institutional entrance tests and interviews.
